How to Copy Protected Text from a Web Page in Google Chrome Browser?

Some websites have disabled copy-paste functionality to prevent plagiarism. I think most of you have experienced this. It is annoying when you try to copy text from a website and the site does not allow you to do that, isn’t it? But due to this people and bots can not copy information from the site without permission. So on the website owners’ side, their content is protected. Although at present this technique is not effective. Because this copy protection feature is coded using JavaScript. Therefore you can turn off JavaScript in your browser and copy the content without any restraint. So let’s discuss how to copy content from a protected website in a detailed manner.

Method 1: Manually Turning Off JavaScript

As mentioned before, you can copy and paste the text of a protected web page by turning off JavaScript for that specific website.

  • Click on the menu icon at the top-right corner of Google Chrome.

  • Go to Settings
  • Expand the “Advanced” tab
  • Press on the “Privacy and security” tab under the “Advanced” main tab.
  • Press on the “Site Settings”.

  • Then click on “JavaScript”.
  • Press on the button named “Add” next to the “Block”.
  • Enter the website URL in the popup and then click on the “Add” button.
  • Refresh the web page of your site. Now you can copy the text content that you want from that web page by selecting text or right-clicking.

Method 2: Using a Chrome Extension

You can use the Chrome extension called “Simple Allow Copy” to achieve your copy/paste goal. Follow the below steps.
