iCloud is the default cloud storage service provided by Apple Inc. to iPhone and Mac users. On iCloud, you can manage and backup all your files, photos, music, emails, and any other data on any iOS or Mac device. But unfortunately, since iCloud is exclusively designed for Apple users, you might doubt if there is no method to access iCloud via an Android device.
Yes, you can. But, to access iCloud Photos on an Android, first, make sure that you have activated the iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone or on your iOS device. For that,
- Launch the Settings App.
- Click on [Your Name] > Select iCloud.
- Then, Select Photos > Toggle on the button, iCloud Photo Library.
Now, you can follow either of the below methods on your Android device to access the photos you saved to iCloud.
Access iCloud Photos from iCloud on the web
Say, you’re using someone else’s Android device. So, you don’t want to set up iCloud on his/ her device. Then, accessing your iCloud Photos through the web is the ideal for this instance.
But, if you’re on your own Android phone or the tablet, skip this method and move on to the next methods since they are easier and more user-friendly.
Step 1: Open a web browser on your Android device. Type in www.iCloud.com and hit Enter.
Oops! Did you get an error message saying, “Your browser is not currently supported” or to redirect to Find My iPhone page? Then, go to Step 2 and follow the workaround we suggest.
Step 2: Tap on the three-dot icon on the top-right corner of the browser page. Then select ‘Desktop Site’ (Or ‘Request Desktop Site’ if you’re on a Firefox browser).
The error message will be gone now. Then the browser will view you the same iCloud Desktop version that you usually view on a Windows PC or a Mac.
Step 3: Now, enter your Apple ID and password to login to your iCloud account.
Step 4: Once you logged in, tap on ‘Photos.’
Now, you can view, download, upload, share, and delete your photos from your Android.
However, the major shortfall when used this method to access iCloud is that your photos cannot be viewed properly since you’re viewing a desktop application from a mobile device. So, you might face a hard time having to zoom in the screen to properly inspect your photos. However, you can minimize this issue to a certain extent by switching to landscape mode on your Android device.
On the other hand, if you want to access Photo Albums, you will have to log in to the mobile app for iCloud on the web because Photo Albums are inaccessible when used the desktop app for iCloud on the web in an Android.
Access iCloud Photos from iCloud on the web – Mobile Version
Accessing iCloud Photos from an Android through the web isn’t the most user-friendly option on your hand. That is why Apple has recently launched a mobile version of the iCloud desktop application.
Step 1: Navigate to www.iCloud.com on your browser.
If you were directly navigated to the login page of your iCloud account without prompting an error message on the screen, now you have navigated to the mobile app for iCloud on the web.
Step 2: Enter the iCloud user ID and password to log in.
However, still, the mobile version for the iCloud web app is limited only to a few features: Photos, Notes, Reminders, and Find iPhone. So, you could only view these apps on the iCloud Home Screen.
Step 3: Tap on Photos to get access to photos on iCloud.
The Photos app in the mobile version lets you browse, view, and share photos, including the photos on Albums.
